"I recently spent two days touring the Northeast Coast of Scotland with Mark.  In advance of the tour, Mark established my level of ability and expectations.
Mark's depth of knowledge of this area is astounding.  He took me to several excellent locations for both landscape and wildlife photography.
Mark encouraged me to think through aspects of composition.  he also made helpful suggestions regarding the technical challenges of achieving correct exposure and maximising image sharpness.
I chose Mark because his images are stunning.  Mark's friendly and relaxed manner ensured two enjoyable and productive days of landscape and wildlife photography.
I can highly recommend Mark Janes' workshops to photographers of all abilities as both inspirational and great value."
Myra Little - Sheffield
I'm based in an area of Scotland called Easter Ross.  At first sight it is not like the Highlands at all; more like East Anglia or Northumberland.  Unlike the dramatic west coast, the East reveals its charms more slowly, only to those prepared to take the time and explore.  I will help you understand and interpret this haunting, atmospheric landscape of windswept beaches, estuaries and big skies.  Myra's comments above put it better than I could.  She is an experienced photographer and we pitched our days together accordingly, but I'm happy to also use our lovely landscape as a backdrop for teaching the fundamentals to anyone who is just starting out.
I can take up to three people in my day-van.  Rates are charged by the half-day and day, plus a bit for fuel if we're covering a lot of ground.  My base in Tain is a good jumping-off point for the whole of the Far North, and we have a self-contained holiday apartment on site, suitable for one person or a couple.  I can collect you from Inverness airport or train station if needed.
