At latitude 58° North the sun hardly dips below the horizon on midsummer's day, resulting on what we call "the simmer dim".
Once the sun goes down in high summer, the sky can take on a wonderful colour. Deliberately moving the camera removes all reality, focussing only on those colours.
Just along the shore from this location is the famous whisky distillery, Glen Morangie, which translates as "Vale of Tranquillity"
A moonlit night allows a long exposure which, together with some camera -drag, captures the essence of light over the Dornoch Firth.
